Be Inspired No. 8 - Suzani Fabrics

Since I'm all for bringing a little more story into our homes I'm inspired by suzani fabrics.

Suzani is an embroidered and decorative fabric made in Central Asian countries. The word suzani means needle. Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread. They have been around since the 18th century and were traditionally used by Asian brides as part of their dowry.

Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers (especially tulips, carnations, and irises), leaves and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), and occasionally fish and birds.
