I think the color combination of lavender and linen is such a soothing tonic. As an herb, lavender has been in documented use for over 2500 years. Lavender, a staple of the English countryside, is not native to England. It actually is said to originate in the coastal hills of the Mediterranean.
In Tudor times lavender put in the pillows of alpine girls brought hopes of romance, while lavender under the bed of newlyweds ensured passion.
It was long believed that Cleopatra's secret weapon in love was lavender. She is said to have seduced both Julius Caesar and Mark Antony with its scent.
