I personally find it best to layout the artwork grouping on the floor first. This gives you the opportunity to shift around prior to installation.

Hanging Artwork Salon Style - Tip No. 3
Don't limit your gallery selections to a theme. There is a fantastic visual impact when a collection of the same subject are all hung in gallery fashion. However, it is amazing how individual art pieces really shine when complimented with opposing art subjects around it.

Framing your collectibles shadow box style is a great addition to gallery walls.

Hanging Artwork Salon Style - Tip No. 5
Supplies are best gathered prior to starting installation: hooks, nails, 3M Command velcro strips, white chalk, tape measure, white art eraser, picture wire, hammer, ladder, brown wrapping paper, pads to protect walls, etc.

Hanging Artwork Salon Style - Tip No. 6
Don't forget empty frames are sometimes beautiful on their own. Your local frame shop more then likely offers standard size frames made from left over or discontinued mouldings. These frames are styles you wouldn't ordinarily splurge on but in this ready made fashion are bargains. Or perhaps it's a collection of beautiful frames just waiting for their subjects that are too lovely to be hidden away.
