Garden Design No. 24 - Black Garden

Stunning! The contrast between lush greenery and black is down right sexy in the garden. And the backdrop or accent of black in the garden gives a level of serenity one seeks to experience in a garden.

Black is a fresh garden design element in both hard surfaces and plantings. I love vibrant color in gardens, but I am all for making room for the simplicity of black in the design. The pairing of a black fence with an abundance of lush fern or perfectly sculpted shrubs and trees, or even an impressive hosta collection would be a garden's delight.

Black wood cladding is a medium to create privacy as well as structural art in the garden. Using this wood form is delightful in creating a cozy "room" in an outdoor living space. The ambience created is suitable for both dining areas and those tucked away reading nooks.

A garden's black on black creates the layering to a outdoor living area that welcomes with open arms. Pushing the envelope of contrast even further by adding stark white to the black with lush green scheme has a calm like no other.

Rustic wood elements and just the right outdoor lighting are compliments to the idea of a black garden design. A garden design one can still embrace on a relaxing sunny afternoon.

Ironwork in garden design is classic and plays well in a full dedication to the black garden. Beauty in black is a pleasant surprise in the garden with a unique, not-your-neighbors-garden. After all, who wants sameness when the garden is to be one of self expression?

Be inspired in the garden. Loving the black garden design!
