If you are a frequent reader of this blog you might find this post to hint at contradiction. Rest assured I am still a believer in breaking the "design rules". Breaking them by encouraging one to show their willingness to be free to express personal style.
Not a fan of chaos in our homes, symmetry is very important to my design aesthetic. This doesn't mean you can't wear a ponytail in the most formal of settings if that is your style! That's where partnering symmetry and harmony are the key.
Take another look at these room images that show symmetry, harmony, and a spark of fun! There is no contradiction. Spot the fun first, then the symmetry and harmony will make sense.
Not to worry, if you have worked with a good designer you already have symmetry and harmony in your home's design. You just have been enjoying the fun, the things that make you smile. The symmetry is in the background, the harmony the result.
I call symmetry in design, conformity with a twist of mischief!
So whether it be a polka dot chair fabric, a modern cocktail table that makes you feel devious, an animal print, or the like. Enjoy your ponytail with symmetry!
Style is harmony!
