Rooms I Love No. 26 - 2023 Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Showhouse - Part IV - The Great Room

This is Part IV of Rooms I Love from the 2023 Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Showhouse. The great room by Amanda Lindroth Design is breathtaking. If you have been a frequent reader of this blog, you won't be surprised to find out that the very first thing I noticed was the tortoise-painted fireplace! I mean, gasp! Talk about a room full of focal points (yes, a room can have more than one).

The soft palette of this space from its hand painted lattice walls to the crisp neutrals of the back-to-back sofas floating in the middle of the room is just so pretty!

I love how the designer used symmetry in so many ways in this space and then placed single statement pieces like the multi-tiered plant stand holding orchids, the massive palm tree in a classic lattice pot and then there is that display cabinet chucked full of the most wonderful shell collection with those silver pots to accentuate. I. Am. Breathless.

There wasn't a single surface in this space - both upholstery and otherwise that didn't have well-appointed accessories and accent fabrics. Not a single thing was left to happenstance. This is a well-planned, well-designed room - inviting its persons to slow down, enjoy their life and acquaintances.

And again, I just can't stop gushing over that tortoise shell painted fireplace!

Be inspired!

Rooms I Love No. 22 - Gobs of Greatness!

I can take a map I love and hang it on the wall, or not!

All these images in this post of Rooms I Love show a rebel side. I am a rebel, I don't follow design rules and I believe greatly that our individual stories belong in our homes, not stories from a magazine!

I can enjoy the classic nostalgia of a bobbin chair with a sleek cocktail I love.

I can have tradition in my uptown modern loft.

I can create my own "window to my world".

Ordinary built-ins are not for me, but they look lovely in your home.

I like my whisper of color, but you might just miss my subtle dark colors.

A suite I must have, for I use all of my rooms to spread my wings.

Just like my LBD, black is the only color for my trim! And yes, I will hang artwork right over top of them!

Rooms I Love No. 19 - Something About a Room that Breathes

I love these rooms because there's a solace in a room that seems to breathe contentment. There's a beckoning. A beckoning one finds hard to resist. These are rooms that aren't lacking personality or fun.

From the vibrant accent pillow to the mix of tailoring and nature, there's a confidence without apology.

These rooms give a nod of approval to breath, show your personality and fun side. And do it with confidence.

Rooms I Love No. 18 - Don't Worry I'll Share the Love

I am happy to share the love of these rooms. They actually all come from the same home and my love is due to the expression of freshness in this revived Georgian-style home. This expression is done with a nod to the architectural elements of the home.

Colors known as sea pearl and white dove and a shade of black create serene backdrops for the rooms furnishings. These colors also flirt with the traditional architectural details of the home.

I love these rooms because rules are broken without apprehension.

A gorgeous high end desk sits with mid range leather chairs with no apologies. Light pours into the library because the definition of a library doesn't include a must for the dark and dreary.

The master bedroom flourishes with comfort and rejuvenation. It's a beautiful, no fuss haven in a formal home.

I love these rooms and I'm sharing the love because I believe it is time for a reviving of classic architecture in a fresh way, a livable way.

Rooms I Love No. 16 - It's the Extras

I love these rooms because of the extras. The extras in these rooms are not even evident to some, that is what I love the most. But take them away and the space wouldn't be the same.

This post doesn't provide the narration to point out the extras. That's on purpose. One needs to learn to recognize the extras. Extras with restraint. Extras that are answering the less is truly more.

 It's the Extras!

Rooms I Love No. 13 - Let Me Count the Ways

A  room I love because of great lighting choices, a great upholstered bed, and a lush color palette.

A room I love because of a great floor, wonderful mouldings, and just the right artwork.

A room I love because of a great black chest, creative window panels, another great chandelier, and antlers.

A room I love because of the architecture - look at those windows and ceiling, well-tailored slipcovers, and lanterns.

A room I love because of the fresh color palette, the ceiling, and the open floor plan.

A room I love because of that faux bois rug.  That's it - you can pretty much put anything with it you wish and I'd love it!

Rooms I Love No. 12 - Outside the Box

Rooms I Love No. 12 is all about thinking outside the box. Actually, not just thinking outside the box, but literally getting outside the box. I love the stories in these rooms.

I love the simplicity that underlies the design of these rooms. Take away the stories layered within these rooms and see just how simple the architecture and the paint color.

It truly is about bringing in the things we love and then layering in more things we love.
