Rethinking the Look of Things No. 4 - Hanging Artwork Salon Style Part I

Rethinking the look of things by hanging artwork salon or gallery style could enhance many boring walls in our homes. I think it also can enhance our artwork collections. When paired correctly, I find that artwork can compliment other pieces when hung in a well-thought out grouping.

Hanging your artwork salon style-by its nature it says "add more whenever you want". Charlotte Moss.

I love this approach to displaying artwork because it gets those photographs, unframed oil paintings, collectibles, and the like out of the boxes and onto our walls to enjoy.  It also lures us to itself and says "slow down and take in this wonderful part of your life".

I personally find it works best to layout the gallery on the floor first, its a great visual.  Here are some of my favorite images.

Be sure to read Hanging Artwork Salon Style Part II tomorrow for tips to make this project easier.
